We’ve all heard of “subliminal messages” — but are they for real?
Is it really possible to enter commands into our minds and effortlessly program success? Conversely, can someone put something in our brain without us noticing and influencing us?
Before you run to put your tinfoil hat on, read on and learn a little bit more about subliminal messages…
And how surprisingly easy it is to tailor personalized subliminal messages that powerfully materialize your intentions.
Receiving Subliminal Messages
A subliminal message is a signal or message, sometimes embedded in another object, designed to pass below the normal limits of perception.
These messages are perceptible only to the subconscious or deeper mind.
The latest studies show that subliminal messages do enter the brain.
Scientists at the University College London (UCL) have found physiological evidence that invisible subliminal images do attract the brain’s attention on a subconscious level.
Similar studies have been conducted with sound waves bordering the human perception levels (20Hz to 20kHz).
The results showed that the brain does log the subliminal images or sound that attract our attention, without us consciously having the impression of having seen or heard anything.
Using Subliminal Messages for Influence
Now the question is: does our brain understand the subliminal messages received, and can it be used to impact our behavior?
The truth is that in order for a subliminal message to influence us, it:
- Needs to have a meaning to the receptor
- Needs to associate to something we know or feel
- Has to reinforce a desire
Thus, a message being caught by your subconscious, but not being understood, cannot influence us.
So for example, receiving messages in Chinese when you don’t speak the language will have no effect.
Next, even if the message is understood, there needs to be an association with our reality.
Take the message “The house must be white.” Without an association to our current reality, it cannot influence us.
However, if you happen to be in the process of painting your house, this would now make sense to your subconscious and incline you to choose white paint.
Lastly, for a subliminal message to effectively influence, it needs to endorse a desire.
If you are opposed to a goal, the messages won’t have great effect.
Which means subliminal messages can’t make you do things you don’t want do!
But if you have the desire, it can influence you.
For example, you see a movie where many scenes show a Pepsi can in the background. Maybe you didn’t really notice it, but your mind recorded it.
This doesn’t mean you’re going to run out and buy Pepsi.
But, if you were thirsty, that desire will create an association. And so the next time you’re looking for a drink, a Pepsi soft drink would be a stronger choice than before.
